"University Mandarin Program in Shanghai Jiao Tong university for 1 year"

Oliver

Hi, Im Oliver from New Zealand. 20 people coming from different countries, learning Mandarin together in a small group class from Monday to Friday: that’s the spirit! The two months in Jiaotong University were just crazy! I was not expecting that at all. I had so much fun learning and living the life in Shanghai that I did not want to leave. People were great and teachers also. I have learned how to write 200 Chinese characters in 2 months. When I arrived in Shanghai, I could only say ni hao… Now though, I can impress a lot of Chinese girls with my language skills! GAC is very professional in providing Chinese courses for adults. Chinese language is amazing! Trust me! You deserve to come and learn... China is beautiful, and it's culture is a super historical country.

"Chinese Language Program at Fudan University"

Tanya

My name is Tanya, a new graduate from Australia. My proficiency of Chinese before doing the program was almost non-existent. I chose to do the Chinese Language program at Fudan university.

My Chinese language program was really beneficial with really supportive teachers who were really patient in teaching. I was abe to make really great proggress in my spoken Chinese.

If you are not a big city person and dislike the big crowds such as in Beijing, I would definitely recommend Qingdao. Qingdao is clean, the weather is moderate, has beaches, beautiful scenery, and the local people are quite nice. The only downside is that there is less culture and things to do than the big cities. You will have to find ways to keep yourself entertained. It is also hard to find other foreigners. I chose the shared apartment, but my roommate left after one month. I would recommend either – you get to meet someone new or grow independent.

My Chinese definitely improved and I became more independent as a result of living by myself in a foreign country. I would recommend the language program as well. GAC has some famous University Chinese programs in deferent cities.

GAC was satisfactory. I was able to quickly come to China and experience a different culture and learn a lot. The staffs in Beijing were pleasant enough during the application process and were quick to reply. The GAC representative in Qingdao city was welcoming, friendly, and tried her best to help with all my problems. She definitely made a big difference and enriched my stay in Qingdao. On Sundays, she would take me to see a lot of what Qingdao had to offer.

"My special gap Year in China"

Johnny Burt

Before I come to China I was so frustrated, and I contacted with several internships in china provides, after I compare with the services and the prices, I decided to choose Go abroad China. I had lots of problems and fears in the beginning: Will I like the food? How will my internship be? How are the people in China? Can I find friends? Can I learn the language?

Go Abroad China one of the program assistants named Nadia helped me a lot. Right after I applied on the website, I got contacted by a program coordinator from the GAC and she guided me through every step on the way and she will continue to do so until I return back home. The accommodation and family were lovely, very accommodating and helped out a lot when I had a problem. And it is also a convenient location. Generally, my program and life in Shanghai are excellent. my host family were super nice to me, every weekend we have plans to do something together such as BBQ, hiking, visit his realities and learned lots of Chinese culture.

"Chinese Language Course at BLCU"

Layfa Frank

Studying in china was not the easiest decision I've ever made, but by far it has been the best. Go Abroad China Provided me with amazing housing, support, tourism, networking events and more that I wouldn’t have had without Go Abroad China. During my experience, I had an amazing time traveling in Beijing and learning about the Chinese language and Chinese culture. I was study at Beijing Language and Culture University, which is the best university to learn the Chinese language, I lived with a Chinese couple who helped me experience the country very well, they were extremely kind, welcoming, and helpful with everything getting comfortable in China. This was all done in a short amount of time but has remained as some of my best memories. I met people from around the world and was able to pick up in Chinese. I would definitely recommend studying abroad in China and doing it through Go Abroad China because their staff was wonderful and all of the activities we were able to do were awesome. We were taken to the Chinese food message, learn the Taiji, visited the museum in Shanghai, watched an acrobatic show and so much more!

"Internship in China through GAC"

Irgna Savitska

got an internship through Go Abroad China; they are the ones that seemed to offer what I wanted close the budget I had. I worked for a trade company based in downtown Shanghai. Doing the work experience in Shanghai was great; my team was in charge of finding clients through emails, phone calls and doing presentations. I was also involved with a lot of research about how the trade industry works and where that company should be improving. China is quite crowded but the life in Shanghai is great, if I found a job there I wouldn’t hesitate to move there. I don’t really speak Chinese but it wasn’t a problem at work since I was not the only foreigner in the company, so English was easily spoken; plus plenty of Chinese in Shanghai actually speak English! Besides that I did have several times I went out to see the town and have fun too.

HOMESTAY
Many foreign students have wondered 'how much does it cost to live in Shanghai?' Well, if you are one of those people, then a homestay accommodation offers great value for your money! This type of housing is about living with a Chinese host family in their home; it is especially beneficial to those enrolled in the study abroad China programs. Our selected Chinese host families are thoroughly selected; we make sure that they are friendly, they have a good and reliable background, and that they are ready to receive an international visitor.

We also make sure of the following checklist:

The housing is in a safe area
The apartment is close to the applicant's work area
The apartment is conveniently located (near a metro or bus station)
The host family's home is comfortable, clean and up to standard

Our participants will have their own bedroom and furniture: bed, desk & chair, closet/wardrobe, etc. They will have access to the apartment's amenities such as 24-hour water heater, western style toilet, washing machine, television, wifi, air conditioner, etc. At GAC, we always strive to meet the needs of our clients who study abroad in China, those doing internships and the volunteers to ensure that they are comfortable.

Many of our Shanghai and Beijing study abroad participants in most cases have shown that they prefer the shared apartment housing type. A shared apartment gives you the opportunity to live with a young Chinese professional. Selecting a shared apartment as your housing option is most suitable for applicants who like to be in a more silent environment with few people around. With a shared apartment our participants will have their own private bedroom and will share the living room, kitchen and bathroom with a flatmate. The apartment is fully furnished and has all the basic amenities one might need.

* We ask a US $100 deposit when you move in our apartment. The deposit will be returned at the end of your stay in China, unless you have caused damage in the apartment.
